Haptonomy is also called the doctrine of touch, because it is all about the touch, as well physically as in an interview. It is believed that spirit, soul and body is one and that all our feelings we have ignored are stored in there.
The Bible does, however, distinguish between these three:
23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.1 Thes.: 23
The hands of our haptonomist make contact with the feelings and thus get insight into your problem. This allows you to figure out how to act. This creates a partnership between feel, think and act. The client should then work on it.
The bottom line is that we act out of our feelings. Due letting this feeling again in our lives, we can better know, says this doctrine, what we want to solve our problems.
It often occurs in conjunction with physical therapy, physiotherapy for example, when you have back or neck problems, then this view comes into play. It is believed that the unresolved feelings and the stress cause physical symptoms.
In other words, haptonomie's about you, what you want, feel and create. My feeling here is a humanistic thinking and even if it does work, it goes against the truth of God's word.
If you require physiotherapy then there is nothing wrong with that. Watch out with the extras they want to give you. Precisely these extras are the things you do not want to receive.
